Assigning/Unassigning Permissions to CSR Users

Overview

You want to update the groups to which a CSR user belongs (i.e., add a user to group/s or remove a user from group/s) to change their access levels. For example, you may want a user to have access to a list of admin-like settings and that the user should be able to adjust user permissions.

Solution

Below steps can be performed by a user with Administrator rights on the CSR site:

  1. Login to the CSR site where the group/s of the user should be updated.
  2. Go to Administration Menu > Security > User Setup.
  3. Find the user using the appropriate search criteria.
  4. Click on the value in the Last Name column of the user, which will open all the user information.
  5. Click Assign Groups.
  6. The groups to which the user doesn't belong currently (and are available for assigning) are in the Available Groups column and the groups to which the user already belongs are in the Current Groups column.
    • If you want to assign a user to a group, then click on that group name in the Available Groups column and then click on the greater than (>) button.
    • If you want to remove a user from a group, then click on that group name in the Current Groups column and then click on the less than (<) button.
  7. Click Cancel to exit the screen.

Note: The groups are assigned/unassigned as soon as the greater than or less than button is clicked and clicking Cancel in the last step will not revert any group updates that were made.

If you are unable to complete the above steps yourself, create a support ticket mentioning the UserIDs and the GroupIDs to which you want the users assigned to. UserIDs can be found by navigating to Administration Menu > Security > User Setup and searching for a user by any of the provided options, and noting down the value of the UserID parameter in the URL of the user detail page. Similarly GroupIDs can be gathered from Administration Menu > Security > Group Setup and clicking on the Users icon for any group and noting down the GroupID value from the URL of the group detail page.

Complete the steps in the public section of this KB article. The client may not have been able to perform these in case they don't have access to any Administrator user account with them.

After the above steps are completed, use the query in this KB article to share a report of the current group subscriptions of the mentioned UserIDs as proof of the modifications applied.
